Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme - The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme enables businesses to claim a 100% first year capital allowance on investments in certain energy saving equipment, against the taxable profits of the period of investment. Capital allowances enable businesses to write off the capital cost of purchasing new plant or machinery (e.g. boilers, motors), against their taxable profits.

BS5970 - Combustion of fossil fuel is a major cause of the “greenhouse effect”, the term given to global warming caused by the build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, principally carbon dioxide, which inhibits the re-radiation of heat from the Earth. This British Standard acknowledges that the application of thermal insulation leads to a reduction in these greenhouse gases.
